Furosemide (Lasix)

Furosemide (brand name Lasix) is a loop diuretic (“water pill”) used to treat edema—swelling caused by heart failure, liver disease, or kidney disease—and high blood pressure. It works by reducing water and salt absorption in the kidneys, causing increased urination. Common side effects include dehydration, dizziness, and low electrolyte levels.
