Glumetza (metformin hydrochloride) is an extended-release, once-daily oral medication used alongside diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes. It lowers blood sugar by reducing liver glucose production and intestinal absorption, and improving insulin sensitivity. It must be taken with meals and never crushed or chewed.
